Introduction

Search Natural Resources for Novel Medicine
From ancient times, the peoples in the world have continuously endeavored to search environmental natural resources for therapeutic medicines in order to satisfy their desire to be health and longevity. Our laboratories are continuously searching ancient herbal literatures for old wisdom and proving the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine. On the basis of our fieldwork at Chinese racial minority, Palau, Tonga and Namibia, we are seeking a natural medicine which is not known hitherto in the world in order to discover new drugs for the treatment of refractory diseases, new health-care agents (such as hair-growth agents and whitening agents), new oral-care agents and new materials for supplements. Moreover, we have isolated and identified active constituents of natural resources in which pharmacological activities were found by our experiments.
