The university crest is a representation of a single
"ume" (or Japanese apricot) blossom. In Japanese the word
'university' is written with characters meaning 'great' (or 'large')
and 'learning.'
The five-petal formation of the crest is similar to the character for 'great', and the center of the flower echoes the form. This is also indicative of humankind itself. This expresses the great presence that this university currently enjoys and the greater future that is unfolding. The line is broken to signify incompleteness and the determination to become even greater. The single bold line indicates overall excellence. |
